Winter Fashion Trends
With Autumn well and truly upon us, and Winter following close, literally just around the corner, that means a brand new selection of styles in Australian Ladies Autumn and Winter wear has been hitting the shelves at our favorite stores. Most people mourn the passing of Summer, I’m probably one of them, but there is always an exception to the rule. Myself and lots of others obsessed with the latest fashions are looking forward to experimenting with the hottest trends this cool change brings!
For Autumn and Winter in 2016, it’s all about keeping warm while looking great: contrasting styles of the punk revival and slightly wild 70’s inspired look is still going strong for Autumn/Winter 2016. The Retro and Bohemian fashion look sees us wearing our turtlenecks, I feel this will be a real staple piece worn with almost anything. Try Bec and Bridge and Victoria Woods for a fab turtleneck. Optical stripes and psychedelic waves to really push the illusions.
Hello again wonderful suede’s and our flared designs for yet another season. Designers such as Karen Walker, Diane von Furstenburg and BCBG brought Seventies chic through their runway collection in New York City. In Paris Chloe showcased it’s pretty Bohemian style. In London we saw lots of flirty patterns, suede and fringes. Elegant colourful furs as well as plaid, print and textural play – all tied together with luxurious prep work – are just some of the key looks for this season. The huge range of trends means there’s just about something for everyone this 2016 Autumn and Winter.
New York Fashion Week showcased what’s trending for the chilly season ahead – 2016.
I have always been a huge fan of Victoria Beckham and her collection, generally feminine, elegant and minimalist has always been a winner on the runways. This season has shown an evolution of her personal style creating a collection that has an interesting balance between feminine and masculine. I just love her plaid dress, (see it and more of her designs on my AK Style face book page), throw on a longline coat or biker style leather jacket to keep you warm and cozy. Don’t forget your statement accessories, a scarf in your best colour, bring out a pair of kid leather gloves and of course your favorite boots! So. So many fabulous boots out there to choose from. Alexander Wang, Sol Sana. Tony Bianco and Midas just to name a few.
I just purchased a fabulous pair of black mid rise ankle boots from Sol Sana, the heel, not too high, has just a touch of glitter or glam to make them interesting. If your wondering where I bought them, it was in the David Jones store and retailed for $229. Another gorgeous detailed ankle boot I was considering….
My AK Style face book page, is always full more fabulous fashion finds, and sales in and around the city, including the wonderful hidden gems, boutiques that carry some unique looks. So, if your interested in the other gorgeous detailed boot I saw by Sol Sana, check them out on my FB page and let me know what you think?
For a status look that gives off ‘It Girl’ vibes, pair fur and denim – try a jacket with a fur trim or even a fur vest for those truly committed fashionistas. Throwing a dress over the entire ensemble provides instant chic appeal.
Two major colour palettes are swirling around this season: one features rich caramels, warm browns and gem tones of burgundy and teal, leading to a 1970s style revival. The second offers a more neutral look, using winter whites, sophisticated greys from light grey to medium value grey and onto the charcoals, and beige tones. For a minimalist and contemporary Scandinavian look, mix in some dark navy or olive green, dark indigo denim is a force to be reckoned with this Winter.
