Will you have a Gingham or Lace  moment?

Yes, you’ll notice gingham and lace, almost everywhere you look. Gingham is a fresh and cheeky look and will take centre stage this summer, along with white, and you can wear it from top to toe. Monochromatic black and white. Colour is still a big splash and we happily welcome pastels.

Gingham is available in bold checks and teeny checks, a rainbow of colours, and everything from swimsuits to sandals, gingham really is having its day in the sun. And while it might conjure up images of Dorothy’s blue gingham dress, picnic baskets and baby clothes, plenty of designers are using the classic checkerboard fabric in new and inspiring ways. It’s a fashion statement representing different elements of this simple design.

Looking at our first image;

White lace top by “Seed”, $79.95, black and white check pants by Sportscraft $149.95 and shoes by “Nine West” $129.95

Just I thought; why not try a white singlet under the lace top.

For women, gingham in fashion is generally reserved for the young. In small amounts I think almost any female will have their fun moment with gingham. The gingham trend is readily available at all price points.

I recently purchased a pair of pink and white gingham shorts and teamed them up with a classic white singlet. Great for lounging around the house. Want to step outside, just throw on a pair of white sneakers, a hat and have fun in the sun! A black and white checkerboard cover for your iPhone. A great accessory to complete the look. (By the way the shorts were $4.00 from Kmart).

Alannah Hill’s latest Spring-Summer 2013-2014 collection, which is entitled “Valley of the Dolls,” has a touch of gingham creating a fresh and cheeky look. Alannah has always created and loved a feminine look. If you’re looking for lace, you’ll definitely find it in one of her outlets. She has always loved mixing prints, patterns and textures happily together, creating a kind of vintage flare mixed with a modern twist. In this image we see polka dots teamed with a gingham skirt and handbag. Oh so very stylish!
